It's a huge night for Australian television - viewers, executives and advertisers. The stars have been getting busy getting ready for the night for nights - The Logies, but before the big show, Channel Nine will face some massive ratings competition at 6.30pm with the season premiere of Channel Seven's 'Dancing With The Stars' squared off against Nine's own premiere of 'The Voice'.

Rupert Murdoch's Herald Sun disclosed a crafty tactic - Seven to ensure their star loaded new season gets off on the right foot are shipping in Brynne Edelsten, Grant Denyer and Bryan McFadden to a taping of DWTS instead of the Logies red carpet.

McFadden will be banking on on his fiancée Vouge Williams who is a contestant on DWTS, while his ex-fiancée, Delta Goodrem is a host on 'The Voice'. Other popular Channel Seven faces are expected to join them in the not so secret tactics.

Just in from Los Angeles, Australian television favourite Daniel MacPherson is ready to return to our TV screens as host of Dancing With The Stars tonight - and new co-host Mel B has got him excited.

"We had an instant connection, she nails TV, and her professionalism makes her," he said.

MacPherson is back for his 5th season and told media that live television still makes him nervous.

"It can be the most predictable show and then all of a sudden you get thrown a curve ball. That's what keeps it interesting," he said.

The 2012 series sees a talented and charismatic batch hit the dance floor.

As is often the cast there are cast members who are out-famed by their other halves. Most notably, singer/actress Danielle Spencer, wife of Russell Crowe and model Vogue Willams, fiancee of Brian McFadden.

Personally, MacPherson is in a great place and girlfriend Zoe Ventoura (Packed to the Rafters) has a lot to do with that. The pair met on the set of Aussie drama Wild Boys in 2011.

"The Mrs is great! We are returning to LA when Dancing wraps. I think she is closer to getting a job over there than me, so I might have to ride on her coat-tails," MacPherson said.

Dancing With The Stars (series 12) premieres tonight on Channel 7 at 6.30pm.

Stay tuned to this station for updates.
