Sound Relief 2 Rock Concert Will Raise Funds For Queensland Flood Victims, by Eva Rinaldi

Music promoter Michael Gudinski is busy contacting band managers after announcing Sound Relief 2 would be staged to help Queensland flood victims.

Insiders hint Gudinski could ask Brisbane rockers Powderfinger to reunite for the fundraiser, with dates for the concert yet to be announced.

The first Sound Relief concerts were held on March 14, 2009 to help those affected by the Victorian bushfires and Queensland floods, raising more than $7 million.

The concerts took place simultaneously at the Melbourne Cricket Ground and Sydney Cricket Ground and featured a stellar line-up of artists including Jet, Kings of Leon, Kasey Chambers, Jack Johnson, Kylie Minogue, Coldplay, Taylor Swift, Olivia Newton-John and more.

Radio station Triple J broadcast live music from both venues and the event was screened on Max and Channel V.

Meanwhile, celebrities partied into the night on Sunday after raising a mammoth $10 million for the Queensland flood relief appeal on Channel 9.

Telethon hosts Eddie McGuire and Leila McKinnon relaxed with a drink in the bar of Rydges Hotel in Brisbane, as the crew and volunteers including Rescue Special Ops cast Katherine Hicks and Peter Phelps toasted the show's success.

Former PM Kevin Rudd was a hit backstage and took some time away from the phone-lines to talk baby names with expectant mum Catriona Rowntree, who drove up from her holiday in Byron Bay especially to be part of the evening.

Lisa McCune drove up with young son Archie after a long day of filming Sea Patrol on the Gold Coast.
